CONTENT CREATOR / FUTURE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PRACTITIONER / ADAPTIVE ATHLETE
Tara Shetterly, a 21 year old located in Virginia Beach, has a passion for breaking barriers in the disability community. At 16, a T11/12 spinal cord injury changed her life, but it didn’t change her drive or personality. Now, she’s a powerhouse content creator, an adaptive athlete, and a soon-to-be occupational therapy assistant dedicated to helping others regain independence and passion for life–regardless of disability status.
Through social media, Tara uses sharp satire and education to challenge misconceptions about disability while showing the world what true accessibility looks like. When she’s not creating viral content, she’s training in her racing wheelchair, working hands-on in her OTA clinical fieldwork, or adding custom flair to her wheelchair—because function and style should go hand in hand.
As a proud Spinergy ambassador, Tara relies on her wheels to keep up with her active life, whether she’s pushing through a marathon or just rolling through another day of breaking stereotypes.
"LIFE DOESN’T END WHEN YOU BECOME SEATED." — Tara Shetterly
