SWIMMER / WCMX ATHLETE / DISABILITY ADVOCATE / CONTENT CREATOR
Lily Rice is from Pembrokeshire, Wales and has a genetic disability called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP for short) meaning she uses a wheelchair to get around. After her disability progressed further, Lily became a full time wheelchair user at 13years old, always rolling in style with a range of colourful Spinergy wheels.
Lily has competed all over the world in both WCMX and and Paraswimming competitions with highlights of becoming the women's WCMX world champion in 2019, winning a bronze medal in the S8 100m Backstroke at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and placing in the top 5 in multiple races at the Open European Championships.
Lily is passionate about sharing how sport can have such a positive impact on both mental and physical health. Having had her own struggles in the past, she states "sport has saved me". Lily shares her life on social media using her hashtag #PuttingTheAbilityIntoDisability, documenting how she navigates life as a multisport athlete and wheelchair user. Giving insights into training sessions and competitions whilst raising awareness of HSP as its often unheard of, especially in younger people.
