In this session, Karneshia will explore the importance of independent living for people with disabilities and examine how healthcare systems often fall short in supporting autonomy, dignity, and equitable treatment. Karneshia will highlight the barriers we face in healthcare settings including ableism, lack of accessibility, and systemic biases and emphasize the need for person-centered care that respects choice, independence, and basic human rights.
